This actually is one of the most common concerns of budding artists and the answer is, no absolutely not! Drawing is a skill that requires a lot of practice. When I started sketching, I did not invest in expensive art supplies. I started off with a normal pencil. The supplies you use just enhance your sketch, it doesn't help you draw better. The tip to drawing better and improving is drawing itself. Continuous practice and dedication can help you draw better. As I mentioned earlier, drawing is a skill that has to be developed just like any other skill. That doesn't mean you don't explore and try out different brands. As an artist it is very important to develop your own style and try different art supplies and find out which one feels the most comfortable to you. Having said that, you do not need expensive art supplies to draw well. To prove my point, I am going to put below a picture that I drew with a very cheap HB pencil and a white pen.
